Dr. Uppal Dhariwal is passionate about supporting youth 4-18 years old and their parents/caregivers from feeling stuck to living their life.
Dr. Uppal Dhariwal has extensive experience in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). She tailors her approach to suit your individual and family’s needs while leveraging your unique strengths.
Dr. Uppal Dhariwal is a certified EFFT Advanced Therapist, Caregiver Workshop Facilitator, Supervisor and Trainer.
Dr. Uppal Dhariwal has provided numerous EFFT and ACT trainings in hospital, school board and community settings.
Dr. Uppal Dhariwal completed her Ph.D. in School and Clinical Psychology at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) of the University of Toronto. She completed her predoctoral residency at McMaster Children’s Hospital and currently works at McMaster Children’s Hospital. She is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. She has experience providing assessment and treatment in a variety of settings, including Mississauga Hospital of Trillium Health Partners, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Toronto District School Board and several private practices.
Dr. Uppal Dhariwal has conducted research in EFFT and adapting ACT for adolescents. More recently, she has been focusing on adapting ACT for adolescents experiencing mental health difficulties with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
